LMP2 is based on Windows Media Player and is able to play all the same file formats Windows it can play. The interface is taken from the style used in Star Trek. It has an integrated Playlist function so that it automatically plays your favourite files, not only according to the order you set as it can shuffle as well.
Of course, LCARS Media Player can play audio CDs and also save and recognize audio CD track names. Upon the first insert of a CD, it will offer the option to automatically download information about the inserted CD like name, artist and track names from an Internet CD database.
